The 8th hole at MVGC is a short straightaway par 3 that features a downhill tee shot to a very small green that is protected in front by a small sand trap and by a ledge that runs from the front left and around the green to the back right. Don't let the short distance of this hole fool you into thinking it's an easy birdie. Both sets of tees on this hole offer a straight shot at the green. Shots to the right of this green will either end up under a couple of small apple trees or in heavy rough below them. Shots to the left will end up well below the green underneath a small grove of trees. Shots that go long on this hole will end up on a hillside sloping down and away from the green. Shots to the left and behind the green will require a high-lofted shot to clear the ledge surrounding the green. The green on this hole is one of the the most challenging on the course. It is small, has a lot of breaks and is very difficult to stop the ball on, especially in the dead of summer. A little bit of wet weather has a tendency to soften this green up and make it very vulnerable.
